Search for the outcome, not one exact itinerary

Instead of asking whether one hotel is cheap from September 12 to September 15, ask a more useful question: is there any two or three-night stay in September under my target price? That turns a brittle search into a much wider net.

Use different shapes for different trips

For a quick escape, weekend shapes like Thursday to Sunday, Friday to Sunday, or Friday to Monday are more useful than checking every individual night. For open-ended travel, an any-night or any-two-night window may be better.

The key is matching the monitor to how you would actually travel.

Keep the target price realistic

A target should be low enough that you would be excited to book, but not so low that it will almost never trigger. Use recent public prices, past Explore Rate experience, and your own budget to decide the number.
