MMP vs MMF Marriott Explore Rates: what is the difference?

Marriott associates and their families often hear two codes discussed together: MMP and MMF. They are related, but they are not the same rate and they do not always show the same discount.
MMP is the deeper associate and family rate
MMP is commonly referred to as the Explore Family Rate. It is the deeper discount used by eligible Marriott associates and qualifying family members. When people talk about the strongest Explore Rate deals, they are usually talking about MMP availability.
MMF is usually broader, but less discounted
MMF is commonly referred to as the Explore Friends Rate. It can be useful, but the discount is often smaller than MMP. The exact difference depends on the property, date, demand, and what the hotel has made available.
Availability can differ by hotel and date
Seeing one code available does not guarantee the other will be available. A hotel might show MMF but not MMP, or show no special rate at all for a specific night. This is why it helps to search across a wider window instead of checking only one date pair.
The strongest deals tend to be irregular. They appear when inventory, forecasted demand, and hotel-level controls line up.
