MMP vs MMF vs MMA: Marriott Explore rate codes compared (2026)

As of October 2026 there are five Explore rate codes people discuss: MMP, MMF, MMA, MM4 and QCC. They differ in who qualifies, how deep the discount runs, and when they apply. Here is one table that lines them up, followed by the details on each.

"Not published" means Marriott has not stated the figure publicly, and this guide does not guess.
MMP: the associate-and-immediate-family rate
MMP is the Explore Rate for associates and their immediate family. In the Bonvoy app it shows up as "Explore Family Rate (MMP)". Immediate family means a spouse or domestic partner, children, parents, in-laws, and siblings. Eligibility is set by the relationship, not the surname, so a sibling or in-law with a different last name qualifies the same way.
It is the deep discount: commonly 50–80% below the public rate when a hotel opens it. MMP has a room limit. An associate can book up to two rooms per night and must stay in one of them. MMF: the Explore Friends rate
MMF is the Explore Friends rate for friends and extended family, such as cousins or a coworker. There is no relationship requirement, and any associate can extend it.
The discount is shallower, typically 20–30%. For immediate family, MMF is the fallback when a hotel has not opened MMP on the nights you need. For how friends get it and why there is no public code, see the Marriott friends and family code guide.
MMA: the associate-only code
MMA is an associate-only Explore code, meant for stays where the associate is the one traveling. Marriott has not published its discount. People often confuse it with MMP because associates can book both, but MMA covers only the associate's own stay, while MMP also extends to immediate family.
MM4 and QCC: the seasonal and long-service codes
MM4, known as "Explore More", is a seasonal window for associates only. It runs roughly from mid-November to mid-January.
QCC is the Quarter Century Club rate for associates with 25 or more years of service. Members keep Explore access even after they leave Marriott.
What changed on April 15, 2026
Two things changed on that date. The paper Explore authorization form was retired. And verification became a one-time digital link in the traveler's own Bonvoy account, sponsored by the associate.

Why a hotel can show MMF but not MMP, and what ExploreDrop tracks
Each hotel opens Explore codes night by night. On a given night a property may show MMF but not MMP, or neither, and the mix can change the next day. Both MMP and MMF stays earn Marriott Bonvoy points and elite night credits, so either one still counts toward status.
